need some advice! i won a nintendo wii for my son and was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for games or accesories that i should get for it or if you think he will enjoy it. he is 12 almost 13

On that same topic, what are some new games that ar coming out or are out that are fun for families to play. My family is really getting tired of Wii Sports and want something new to play. We'd like something that we can all play. Ranging from ages 3-50. (Of course my 3 year old doesn't have to understand the concept of the game, he just enjoys playing) Of course he can kick my butt in bowling. He's bowled as high as 230.

Mario Kart is coming out soon, that's always been a favorite of mine, younger. And Super Smash Bros is coming up, that game as always been classics. And Mario Galaxy. Doesn't sound like a top contender-title, but Mario is NEVER a wrong way to go. I grew up with it as more than 99% of kids my age, so why ignore what happened then, and just go on and continue it now?

Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
If you are a Zelda fan this is pretty much a must-have because many have said that it is possibly the best Zelda game ever made.



WarioWare Smooth Moves
One of the highest-scoring Wii games and great fun for the entire family. If you've never played the WarioWare games before, they basically consist of characters whose 'stages' are lengthy periods of random minigames that come one right after another at fast speeds. In other words: You have to be quick to be able to play them, and the fact that you will be using the Wiimote to do tons of crazy things makes it that much more fun. Highly recommended!



Metroid Prime 3 Corruption
Like the other Metroid Prime games (first-person view) only you're controlling the action with the 'Wiimote' enabling you to have more accuracy and making the experience more immersive. A must-have for Metroid (Prime) fans.



Resident Evil 4
One of the best - if not THE best - Resident Evil games ever made. If you haven't played this one before, it's worth picking up. [WARNING: This game is rated Mature and contains blood/gore/etc. so this is just a fair warning.]



Super Paper Mario
I'm a bit iffy on this one. I have it and it's not a whole lot like the first Paper Mario (which I loved) in that it plays more like a standard Mario game than an RPG in which you take turns attacking one another via a menu-like screen. The game isn't bad but it just isn't for everyone and I personally grew tired of it fairly quickly. The story is also kind of silly and won't appeal to everyone. Only get this one if your son is into classic Mario games like the ones for Nintendo and Super Nintendo.

Super Mario Galaxy
The next new Mario game in the legendary franchise.. only this time you are flying around in outer-space and must land on several different landforms which are different shapes, have different gravity levels, different enemies, different objectives, etc.
Release: November 12



Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Possibly the most anticipated Wii title: If you have played Super Smash Bros.(N64) and Super Smash Bros. Melee(Gamecube) you'll know why! Super Smash Brothers is one of the best fighting games of all time in my opinion and features tons of cool characters such as Mario, Donkey Kong, Wario, Kirby, and even Solid Snake from the Metal Gear [Solid] games! Best of all, it will feature online play!
Release: December 3



Mario Kart Wii
Not a whole lot is known about this game yet, but if you've played the Mario Kart games you'll know what you're getting into. These games are almost always solid and tons of fun even for non-racing fans such as myself. This game will also feature online play and is therefore highly anticipated by hardcore Mario Kart fans. It won't be coming out for a while, but be sure to remember the name so that your son will know about this great upcoming game.
Release: Q1 2008



These are the main ones I can think of. I don't think I've forgotten any, but if I ever remember any that I left out I'll be sure to update this post.

I had heard there was a game called Playground coming out in October that included games like Dodgeball and Tetherball. That sounded like something that could be interesting for family play.

I think it'd be cool if they made a first-person football game where you could actually throw passes, catch passes (using the "Wiimote" to control where your hands are), kick, make tackles, etc. Of course it isn't like EA Sports or 2K games will ever do anything like this for the Wii, but it would certainly be cool.
